In England, we are proud to support the GEM Programme – a twelve month paid internship. The programme is highly successful in getting graduates into employment; all of the graduates on last year’s programme were retained by their partner organisations.

We have taken on 7 graduate trainees this year through GEM and it has been a game changer for us.

Tony Stacey, Chief Executive, South Yorkshire Housing Association

The GEM programme provides a fantastic opportunity for Leeds Federated to show graduates the diversity of career options available within housing.

The Centre for Partnership work directly with each organisation to help recruit the right person and continues to support graduates within their internship to help ensure success.

Megan Henderson, Human Resources Manager, Leeds Federated

Our three GEM graduates are exceptional. They have helped us to develop a very clear focus for helping our customers and supporting the business in an energetic, enterprising and clear way.

They bring fresh ideas to old problems to help your business deliver for your customers or clients.

Dave Dickens, Income & Customer Services Director, Incommunities

The GEM programme has allowed the Federation to lift its profile with our communities and importantly enabled us to support partner organisations with individual projects.

We have also been able to work with programme members in other organisations to develop the knowledge of our members in government policies.

Alex Brown, Chair, Bradford District Tenants and Residents Federation
